Come along and meet Mayor of Mold Cllr. Jo Edwards who will be at Mold Food & Drink Festival throughout the weekend inside the Totally Mold marquee. Mayor of Mold 2026/27 – Councillor Jo Edwards Councillor Jo Edwards was appointed Mayor of Mold for the 2026/27 civic year in May 2026 and will serve a 12-month term. Cllr. Edwards has lived in Mold for over 20 years, where she has raised her family and also works full-time in the town centre. Her strong connection to Mold, both personally and professionally, gives her a real understanding of the town and the community she is proud to represent. The Role of the Mayor As the Civic Head of Mold, the Mayor plays an important role in representing and promoting the town. The Mayor’s duties include: • Representing Mold at civic, ceremonial and community events • Supporting local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups • Promoting and visiting local businesses • Celebrating the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations across the town • Acting as an ambassador for Mold and helping to bring the community together Councillor Pete Dando serves as Deputy Mayor of Mold, supporting the Mayor throughout the civic year and representing Mold Town Council at events and engagements when the Mayor is unavailable. Cllr. Dando has been a volunteer on the Mold Food & Drink Festival Committee since 2022 and is currently Mold Food & Drink Festival Vice Chair. Mayor of Mold’s Fundraising Appeal – each year, the serving Mayor leads the Mayor of Mold’s Fundraising Appeal, supporting charities, community groups and good causes who support or benefit residents of Mold. Funds are raised through a variety of activities, including community events, fundraising initiatives and donations from local businesses and individuals. Since 2014, the Mayor of Mold’s Fundraising Appeal has raised almost £130,000 for good causes. The money raised has supported a wide range of charities and not-for-profit organisations providing services, activities and support to the people of Mold and the surrounding community. Beneficiaries have included: Alzheimer’s Society, The Stroke Association, Bailey Hill Regeneration Appeal, The Counselling Hub, Mold Mix & Mingle, Synergy, NEWSAR, Flintshire Foodbank, North Wales Blood Bikes, Parkfields Community Fridge, Mold Community Hospital League of Friends, Mold Alex Football Club, North Wales Bowel Cancer Support Group, Theatr Clwyd Youth Music Trust, Daniel Owen Festival, North Wales Superkids, Mold Community Gardens & Clubhouse, Hope House Mold Friends Group, Daniel Owen Community Association, KidsBank Flintshire, Macmillan Cancer Support and 3rd Mold Brownies. In addition, through the Mayoral Appeal and support from Mold Town Council, more than 30 community defibrillators have been funded for locations across Mold, helping to provide potentially life-saving equipment throughout the town. The Mayor’s Charities for 2026/27 – This year, Cllr Jo Edwards has chosen to focus her Mayoral Appeal on charities and organisations supporting children and animals within Mold. Fundraising will take place throughout her civic year, with all money raised being presented to the Mayor’s chosen recipients at the end of her term in May 2027. The Mayor is always delighted to meet local people, visit businesses and organisations, celebrate special occasions and milestones and learn more about the fantastic work taking place throughout Mold.
