Paul DeMarco

Mold Food Festival Paul Demarco is a singer/songwriter from Anglesey in North Wales with over 25 years of experience performing, writing and recording music both as a solo performer and member of the group Gumshaw, the Ebenezer Chapter band project and currently of The Bassmen, and writing and producing for Southern rock band from Arizona, Blackwater Lake. Always a lover of music, Paul started on keyboards at 12 years old as a big fan of french synth pioneer Jean Michelle Jarre… but it was a Bon Jovi music book that pulled him on to the guitar and everything felt right. Songwriting followed soon after that and that meant becoming a singer too. He was learning music production before he realised by recording instruments onto cassette and then recording over that playback onto another casstte player… primitive multitracking… but great ear training! Performing live over the years has led to Paul sharing the stage with a diverse range of artists, from Ed Sheeran’s co-writer Amy Wadge to Jan Akkerman, and from rock band Budgie to Henry Priestman from the Christians. Co-writing with songwriters all over the world has enhanced Pauls song-writing, and he always brings his best to every co-write. Modern technology means he has been able to write with writers in Nashville and learn from the best, and being part of SongTown has led to some great co-writes including writes with founders and hit songwriters Marty Dodson and Clay Mills themeselves! 2 songs written on a song writing retreat run by Ivor Novello winner Chris Difford from the band Squeeze, will be featured on an upcoming album to be mastered at the legendary Abbey Road. The writing retreats also led to cowrites with great writers like Jeff Cohen, Bill Lloyd and David Wilcox. Paul has been writing music for sync notbonly as a solo composer, but also with other writers and as part of the DOL writing team with award winning writers Bill O’Hanlon and Lucy LeBlanc. When not writing, gigging or streaming gigs live on Facebook Paul is working with young people who find school a challenge, using music to build confidence and channel frustration, sharing the power of songwriting. Also inspiring the next generation of Rock stars at The Rock Project. As well as performing and teaching Paul is producing demo’s for songwriters all over the world and producing his own music. Paul combines his wide range of taste to create a melting pot of styles that make him truly unique. Pauls latest release “Losing Me” was written for a film about Alzheimers and has been adopted by the Alzheimers society to raise awareness for the condition. Other releases, including Let Love Fall, Best Damn Day Of My Life and Go Tonight will be featured on up coming album Soul Revival where Paul shows his Soul influences aswell as his Rock, Blues and Country sides. You can catch him live on facebook or at venues around the UK either as a solo performer or with his band The Bassmen. There is much more to come from Paul… stay tuned…
